The Blessed Poor

"I saw an angel flying in mid heaven, having the eternal

Good News to announce to those who live on the earth,

to every nation, tribe, language, and people," Rev. 14:6.

   The Blessed Poor

Blessed are you who have no strength,

for the hand of God is longing to hold you upright.

Blessed are you who have no hope,

for the one who comes only to bring hope will find you first.

Blessed are you who are cold and homeless,

for the one who is building a new eternal home is thinking of you first.

Blessed are you whose spirits were broken as children,

for the one who embraces every child will embrace you first.

Blessed are you who have failed and failed again

and have never truly known success,

for God desires those people to be his closest intimates

who have never known any other satisfaction but him.

Blessed are you who give your last bit of money in God's name,

for you will be made pillars in the Temple of God.

Blessed are you who are alone and lonely in the day and in the night,

crying silently for God with every breath,

for the Comforter is turning the world inside out and upside down to come to you.

Blessed are you who do not believe that you are worthy to exist,

for God thought of you when he decided to create the world

from the passion of the heart of Israel's gentle Savior.

Blessed are you who stand alone on the street corner

and watch others go by to their places

and wonder if there will ever be a place in society for you,

for the first shall be last and the last shall be first

when Yehoshua sits upon his throne in Jerusalem.

Blessed are you who are poor in spirit

and do not have the spiritual strength

to obey one commandment of God as you ought to obey it,

and do not have the spiritual strength

to decide to repent as you ought to repent

and do not have the spiritual strength

to believe in God as you ought to believe,

for God has chosen the weak things of the world for his greatest treasures,

and as a great treasure that is waiting to be found,

God hunts for you.

Blessed are you who are disliked and avoided

because you are poor in spirit,

for you are a picture of the bride for whom God descended into the chaos and void,

the bride he rescued from the forces of desolation

and is bringing back to his home of living joy.

"Blessed are you who are poor in spirit, for yours is the kingdom of heaven."

Yours is a liberation from the desolation of the kingdoms of earth.

Yours is liberation and freedom to learn what is good and how to do it.
