4 cups flour
2 cups butter
l cup superfine sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 400°.
Sift, measure and sift flour again. Cream butter, add sugar and egg. Add flour and vanilla.
Keeping out one portion of dough, refrigerate the rest
Roll out dough to maybe 1/8 inch thickness (error on the thick side), cut with tin cutters (the kind that just make the outline). When your portion of dough becomes unworkable(which it will in short time -- note butter content) exchange it for a portion of refrigerated dough (a la slam cookies, only these are much worse).
Bake 4 to 5 minutes (keep your eye on them).
Frost with Buttercream Frosting, decorating with a"frosting bag" (in the manner of "Uncle Bob Cookies") if desired. Otherwise, frost the whole thing, and then use
sprinkles.
