13th Battalion. March – July 1918.

13th Battalion crossed to France on 31st January 1918 and was still training at Bray and Merilimont when the Germans attacked on 21st March 1918.

“C” Company manned two fighting tanks to reinforce 2nd Battalion. 2nd Battalion. 21st - 30th March 1918

“A” and “C” Company successfully moved the remaining training tanks from Bray back to safety.

Two of the tanks are presumably 2559 and another which were photographed in Peronne:

On 3rd April the 5th tank brigade was formed, 2nd, 8th and 13th Battalions.

On 13th April the Battalion was transferred to 4th tank brigade (4th, 5th and 13th Battalions) and officially became a Lewis Gun battalion.

The battalion re-equipped with MkVs and first saw mounted action at Hamel.
