Map Notes
The maps are intended to help the reader understand the narratives.
The grid is that used on British Trench Maps.
Abandoned tanks are positioned in the locations indicated in the Narrative. The Author has assumed the positions given by the Salvage companies are more correct then those given by the tank crews; the later were often under fire when they left their vehicles.
The Building and other location markers only give a rough idea as to the location of the feature. The building markers often represent more than one building, this is especially true of the towns and villages.
The 3rd Ypres maps are based upon original trench maps found in:
