Photographed X52.p27
Digger One GC was converted to a digger post WW1 (s52.p27) . Photographed: X52.p27
Notes
1 GC Coy War History indicates 14 Gun Carriers were destroyed on 7 Aug 1918 at Villers Bretonneux. Presumably 107, 117, 123, 133, 142 and nine of the thirteen GC listed as as NO INFO above.
Two gun carriers were completed or converted into salvage cranes, one was sent to Cambrai (PRO WO 95-92) and was photographed whilst entrained (see above). Their serial numbers are unknown.
On 3rd April 1918 Central Workshops started fitting one Gun Carrier with an Anti Aircraft gun (CW). There is no other record of this.
Photograph X51.p14. Only the last three letters of the name are visible. The caption states this is tank "Merlin" this seams unlikely as all the known Gun Carrier names were towns ; "Dublin" seems more probable.
Note that "Auld Reekie" is a nickname for Edinburgh: http://dictionary.reverso.net/english-definition/Auld%20Reekie
