Right-Wing Ideology Deconstructed in 700 Words

William Alford (https://www.facebook.com/wralford/posts/10152235002561933) claims to refute Marxist ideology in 1000 words. Not being a Marxist, I am not affected by this one way or another; but there is another ideology that is more dangerous than Marxism and that requires refutation in less than 1000 words. This ideology is the Far Right.

The Far Right claims to be true America, and it claims nobody else to be true Americans. If that had been the case, then Far Right would be dominating every election. Instead America has elected – twice – a progressive President who is black and was raised by a single mother. Which means that the Far Right's claim that they are America – and that nobody else is America – is a load of lies.

The Far Right claim that Obama's policies are bankrupting the country. In fact it is the previous administration that bankrupted the country through their irresponsible taxation and spending policies. In 1990s, Clinton administration achieved fiscal sanity and sustained economic growth. Bush destroyed that accomplishment and ran $500 billion a year deficits at the time that there was no need for it, while incomes declined. Obama had to rescue the economy from a freefall, at the time that the baby boomers have been retiring. He had an excuse to spend; Bush did not.

The Far Right accuses Obama of being a Communist and a totalitarian. This claim is the most ridiculous one of all. If Obama had been any such thing, then these people would be in a labor camp or facing a firing squad. That they instead are free to spread their propaganda shows how far from reality their claims are.

The Far Right keeps trying to remove President Obama from office. Meanwhile Obama has been a legitimately elected president, which his predecessor was not. They were nowhere to be seen when Bush stole the 2000 election; yet they continue insisting that the present, legitimately elected, administration is illegitimate.

The Far Right denies global warming. Yet they claim to be reasonable, responsible people who swear by reality. Instead they have shown that they absolutely refuse to face reality – reality that has been confirmed independently by thousands of the world's brightest minds, using highest standards of scientific integrity, on a matter that should be common sense – that being, that if you raise carbon emissions while cutting down the trees that absorb carbon dioxide, you have big problems.

The Far Right takes credit for America and all its accomplishments. This is a complete usurpation. America's science, which is at the root of everything that business sells; computer industry, that was the true source of 1980s and 1990s prosperity; education, which makes people employable; entertainment industry, that dominates the world's airwaves; and manufacturing industry, are majority liberal to moderate. America's technological innovation and implementation are based in liberal California, Massachusetts, Michigan and New York. Whereas the basis of the right-winger economy – government-subsidized beef, government-subsidized oil, and the military that is a branch of the government – are either part of the government or depend on government assistance.

Which leads us to a central claim that has not been adequately addressed, which is that the right-wingers are paying everyone else's way. Nothing could be further from the truth. The states that contribute more to the treasury than they get out of the treasury are for the most part Democratic; and the states that get more out of the treasury than they put in are for the most part Republican. Which means that it is the Democrats that are paying the Republicans' way, and not the other way around.

There is more – much more. But I want to wrap this up before I reach the 1,000 word limit, so I'll simply say this. The Far Right is an industry of deception; and some of them are quite effective at this deception, so that many honest people fall for their lies. If you are an honest person who has been involved in the Far Right, I would encourage you to examine the issues further and see where you've been mistaken. Chances are, you'll find more reason in the middle or even the near-Left (as opposed to Marxist far-left) than you would on the Far Right.
