Our prospective post-doctoral fellow for the academic year beginning September 1, 2014 will not be able to attend the program as of a notification earlier this week. We, therefore, have a sudden vacancy in an excellent clinical psychology post-doctoral program focusing on the integration of primary care and mental health. Needless to say, we would like to fill this position as soon as possible and welcome all qualified applicants. Post Doctoral Fellowship in Primary Care and Mental Health

The VA Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont, is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for our 2014 – 2015 post-doctoral fellowship, accredited by the American Psychological Association. We are recruiting for one fellow for our one-year Primary Care and Mental Health Fellowship Training Program.

The postdoctoral fellow works closely with the primary care health psychologists providing assessment and individual/group interventions in:

1) Diabetes Shared Medical Visits

2) MOVE! weight management and bariatric evaluations

3) Insomnia evaluation/treatment.

4) Individual/group treatment and interdisciplinary team work for Oncology and chronic pain patients

5) Smoking Cessation

6) Primary Mental Health Walk-in Clinic located in the Primary Care Service

Other experiences include:

7) Carrying a caseload of six patients in General Outpatient Mental Health Clinic supervised from a theoretically integrated perspective

8) Providing supervision to psychology interns on the health psychology/weight management rotation, and serving on the Internship Training Committee

9) Co-teaching medical students from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College in psychiatric interviewing class

10) Serving on the medical center’s two biomedical ethics committees with a psychologist-mentor, who is a specialist in biomedical ethics and patient safety

11) Designs a quality improvement project in one of his/her practice areas

Stipend: $42,239 annually

Benefits: VA fellows are eligible for health insurance (for self, married spouse and legal dependents), life insurance, 10 annual holidays, four hours of sick leave and four hours of annual leave for each two week pay period, authorized absence without charge to leave for activities deemed to be of substantial benefit to VA or activities that advance education and training.
