Post Doc: Military Psychology

Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship Opening in Military Psychology

(September, 2014– August, 2015): We are seeking candidates with strong clinical, interpersonal, and organizational skills for the North Shore-LIJ: Feinberg Division of the Unified Behavioral Health Center for Military Veterans and their Families. This program is a collaboration between the North Shore-LIJ Health System and the Northport VA Medical Center. Located in Bay Shore, Long NY, this first-of –its kind center is partially supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation along with local funding partners and represents a unique effort between a VA Medical Center and a non-profit health system to evaluate and treat veterans and their family members (including children) under one roof. Many veterans at the center are treated by VA personnel through the VA system, while family members and some veterans are treated by North Shore-LIJ personnel, with a cross-talk methodology in place to optimally treat the family unit.

This post-doctoral fellow will be part of the North Shore-LIJ personnel contingent. Candidates must have completed their doctorate in clinical, school, or counseling psychology and be eligible for the New York State Limited Permit in Psychology. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in child and family therapy as well as experience working with adults. Clinical duties include evaluation and diagnostic assessment, and individual, group, and family therapy with children and adults. Additionally, part of this postdoc position will include some clinically-related administrative tasks as well as participation in newly developing research projects. Responsibilities and supervision will fulfill criteria for the postdoctoral year of experience necessary for New York State Psychology licensure. Experience with military service members/veterans is a plus. Groups historically underrepresented in psychology are encouraged to apply. Please submit cover letter, resume, copy of student transcript, and list of references or copies of recommendation letters to:
