Dr. Eva Feindler

  • Received CEMRATT grant from APA
  • Coordinating research collaboration with NUMC

Dr. Geoffrey Goodman

  • Will be publishing two books: Rural Community Libraries in Africa: Challenges and Impacts (with Valeda F. Dent & Michael Kevane; IGI Global) and his first children’s book, Daddy’s Secret Cedar Chest (Tate Publishing).
  • Awarded the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
  • Won the Linda Neuwirth Memorial Paper Award from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research for his recently published paper, “Encopresis Happens: Theoretical and Treatment Considerations from an Attachment Perspective.
  • Published various articles in peer-review journals

Dr. Hilary Vidair

  • Piloted “Family Check-In” program in 2012 at LIU Post’s Psychological Services Center, a low-cost, 3-session program for parents of 2-7 year-olds.
  • Vidair, Gustafson-Pruitt, & Feindler (under contract) “ The Theses and Dissertation Guide for Doctoral Students in Applied Psychology and Related Fields,” Oxford University Press.
  • President of the Child and School-Related Issues Special Interest Group, Association for Behavior and Cognitive Therapies
  • Published various articles in peer-review journals

Dr. Marc Diener

  • Joined a 4th editorial board (Journal of Personality Assessment) as a Consulting Editor, as of summer 2013
  • Published 3 peer-reviewed journal articles, 1 of which was co-authored with one of our students
  • Published two book chapters/other publications

Dr. Robert Keisner

  • Lead first year of Psychologists for Social Responsibility in 2012-2013
  • Submitted proposal for book with Dr. Knafo & recent alum, Silvia Fiammenghi, Psy.D. called “Inside Journeys: The Personal Stories of Clinical Psychologists in Training
  • Appointed to LIU Post IRB

Dr. Thomas Demaria

  • Trauma Team Coordinator: Doctoral Psychology Students and Faculty from the LIU Post Trauma Team have responded to nearly sixty community crises and large scale disasters during the past five years including the Hurricane Sandy, the Sandy Hook Newtown Schools shooting and the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Dr. Rathus

  • Is publishing a book with Alec Miller, Ph.D. on DBT Skills Training with Adolescents with Guilford
  • Keynote speaker at conference on DBT for Adolescents, Amsterdam, November, 2012
  • Invited presenter for two-day course on DBT for Adolescents, Stockholm, August, 2013

Dr. Danielle Knafo

  • Dancing with the Unconscious: The Art of Psychoanalysis and the Psychoanalysis of Art (2012), was nominated for the Gradiva Prize
  • Coordinator of Serious Mental Illness Concentration (SMI). The blog, SMILIU, now has thousands of hits and is one of the top sites on the internet when searching for information on mental illness.
  • Launched another blog, with Tristan Barsky, called art fromtheedge.net, an online virtual gallery of art created in extreme states.
  • Invited speaker at numerous conferences and venues in the US (Chicago, PA, LA, Stockbridge, Seattle) and abroad (Montreal, Berlin) to speak on a variety of topics.
  • Co-editing, along with Drs. Keisner and Fiammenghi, a book titled Inside Journeys: The Personal Stories of Clinical Psychologists in Training. The chapters are written by our own students and alumni. Dr Keisner and I received a research grant from LIU to help with this project.
  • Published two articles in Psychoanalytic Dialogues and one in Psychoanalytic Inquiry in 2012.
  • Published a book chapter on solitude and creativity in a book called Encounters with Loneliness and another on Violence Against Women in the Art of Women Artists in a book on Violence Against Women.
