The MSBI HEARTS Program, a collaboration between Mount Sinai Beth Israel and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s in New York City, announces an opening for one full-time 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Traumatic Stress. The overall goal of the fellowship is to provide advanced training in child traumatic stress treatment and research under the context of a service grant funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration.

The position involves a mix of clinical, research, and administrative activities. The fellow will obtain intensive training/supervision from doctoral-level staff in evidence-based assessments and interventions for child traumatic stress. The fellow will provide direct clinical service to youth (ages 13-21) and families on-site in community-based juvenile justice and in the MSBI outpatient clinic. S/he will also co-facilitate trauma-informed trainings for agency staff and assist with program development/evaluation. The fellow will also participate in various activities through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network that advance the science of treating child traumatic stress. Research opportunities include conducting original research, analyzing existing datasets, preparing publications and presentations, and assisting with grant writing. Other potential opportunities include teaching didactic seminars and supervising research assistants and/or psychology externs. The fellowship is particularly designed to prepare individuals for careers in applied clinical research within an academic medical center setting.

Requirements: Applicants must possess a doctorate in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program and significant clinical experience with children/adolescents. Special interest or experience with traumatic stress and/or juvenile justice is preferred. Applicants with a commitment to low-income, traditionally underserved communities are preferred. Bilingual (Spanish & English) language skills are highly desirable. Minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
