1958 Movies
The Year in Review
1958 was actually a pretty good year for films and I know that a lot of people would have expected me to select Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, the popular choice, as the number one film. I've selected Sinbad because the work of Harry Harryhausen can't be underestimated. It spawned a generation of imitators who more or less built the special effects industry of today. 1958 also marks the start of the incredibly long running Carry on series -- and then there's the fly which, apart from the ending is not a patch on the Cronenberg remake.
