The Year in Review
Rear Window is an impressive film that shows how well Alfred Hitchcock could work when he was entirely studio bound. The sets here are very impressive. The animal farm cartoon of 1954 is also quite impressive as it's one of the first animated films aimed at adults. There's also the original Godzilla which I think now holds the record for the most remakes and sequels and the Creature from the Black Lagoon which I'm still trying to see in the original 3D. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is an interesting film but it's also one which saw Disney having to lean on both Universal and Fox studios for assistance. Interestingly, it was originally going to be an animated feature. I waited until 2020 to watch the Seven Samurai and I've reluctantly had to give it the edge over Rear Window for sheer technical brilliance, cinematography and some great characters.
