Mostly Fun Poems

The majority of my poetry is "fun" rather than serious. It's not overly structured either, so I don't expect that anyone will study it once I leave this earth... but if it brings a smile or a tear then it has done its job.

  • Stuff the Ethiopians: A bit of poetry I wrote for school back in the eighties. It's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek but I guess it's probably pretty offensive these days. Our teacher told us to write about how we're predisposed to care when our friends suffer but we don't seem to notice the plight of starving children overseas.
  • Happy Birthday Joey: A poem I wrote for my wife (Joanne)'s 41st Birthday.
  • The Carpenter: A poem written for Paul Montgomery Jr.
  • The Bat Who Stole Easter: A poem written during the COVID-19 Crisis in lockdown on Easter Sunday 2020

I've collected a bunch of my surviving poems together in a PDF. Admittedly, quite a few of them are naff but some were written when I was about 9 years old and there was no internet back then. Anyway, you can download a copy here if you want it.
