An unknown mastermind uses the power of shards from fallen meteors to brainwash Spiderman’s friends and foes who are then ordered to attack Spiderman.  This game is available for the Playstation 2, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP and PC.

This game moves from Spiderman 3’s free roaming action game to something simpler – a beat-em-up game.  Spiderman and a partner of your choice run from one part of the level to the other, defeating the same repeating enemies multiple times. It sounds really boring, but it’s not, at least, not for a while.  Holding the attack button during different times in a combo will produce different moves.

The throw button can also be used mid-combo which makes the number of combos you can do limited only by your imagination.  Destroying almost anything in the game will give you tokens, which act as the game’s currency.  Collect enough tokens and you’ll be able to upgrade your characters.

There’s really no need to upgrade at all since you have infinite continues.  Why would you need more defense and health if you get a new refreshed Spiderman every time you die?  Although you can play as a villain in this game, you’ll probably use Spiderman the most since he’s stronger, faster and better than most partners.

Movies in this game look good and are complimented well with excellent voice acting.  In this game, you’ll see a lot of repeated characters.

You’ll be defeating the same enemies to make a bridge appear so that you can move on to fight more enemies to build more bridges to encounter more enemies….you get it, right?   At least you have plenty of combos, so this game isn’t unplayable.

Secrets can also be collected but since the game is so linear, most secrets are out in the open.  Nice work, game designers.

Even though there are a lot of flaws, the core experience is fun.  The whole game is a treat for any Spiderman fan.  Since this isn’t the first Spiderman game to be disappointing, it’s not that much of a letdown, but I would have liked to have seen more of “The Amazing Spiderman”.
