Thank you for your understanding.
NOTE: The survey can be completed only once per member on one device. If you know someone who has not subscribed to the Unifor 2002 e-news list, please encourage them to do so. Staying updated is key to staying informed.

Update from UMHQ
Sept 19, 2025.
We raised the ongoing problems members are experiencing with the sign-in process and extended time spent in IVR to flag these issues. The company acknowledged the problem and stated that agents must follow the current process, and time adjustments will be made accordingly. Please continue to follow the established procedure to ensure your time is accurately reflected.
Concerns were addressed regarding managers responding to product-related questions, which fall under Aeroplan scope work. We reminded the company that managers should not be handling such inquiries, and agents should be directed to Leads or Travel Ops for assistance. This distinction is crucial to maintain our scope of work and prevent role encroachment.
The company announced plans to begin cross-training between Revenue and Loyalty starting sometime in October. Dates have not yet been confirmed. We advised them that this is a significant undertaking and urged them not to underestimate the complexity and workload it places on agents. The company stated this will be a multi-step approach rolled out over time.
We voiced our concerns around monitoring practices and the use of AI, emphasizing that these tools must not be used as a witch hunt against agents. Performance issues should lead to coaching—not discipline. Agents deserve a fair and supportive work environment.
Reminder: Do not manipulate phone systems. All calls are recorded once initiated. Keep conversations business-related at all times.
We inquired about expanding WFH opportunities. The company confirmed that their current cap is 75% per office. Additional WFH positions will only be offered to maintain that ratio when vacancies arise.
The company advised that Vancouver’s hours of operation will be extended to 2:00 AM PST to meet operational requirements as of the new schedule beginning in December 2025
We reiterated the need for a national seniority list, which the company has agreed to provide in the coming months. We also discussed the need for clear transfer processes as we transition into the mainline collective agreement, covering other contact centres and airport locations.
The company confirmed that the last day to apply for a phase-in to maintain current agreement rules is November 15, 2025, for a start date of December 1, 2025. Applications submitted by this deadline will allow agents to fall under the current rules before the mainline AC collective agreement takes full effect in January 1, 2026.
Important Dates to Note:
March 31, 2026: End of current comprehensive health benefits.
April 1, 2026: Transition to Manulife health plan under the AC agreement.
January 1, 2026: Full merger into Air Canada’s collective agreement.
The company has committed to holding informational sessions as these dates approach.
As we approach the end of the year, we are also closing a historic chapter at Aeroplan. Over the years, we have proudly negotiated strong agreements for our members. In 2026, we face an important and challenging bargaining process for a new collective agreement. Your joint bargaining committees will be releasing more updates in the near future.

On behalf of all Unifor Local 2002 members, I must express our disgust and disappointment with the decision made by Federal Employment Minister Patty Hajdu to invoke Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code. By doing so, the government has ordered Air Canada Flight Attendants into binding arbitration with Air Canada and forced them back to work—stripping them of their right to free and fair collective bargaining.
This move is nothing short of an attack on workers’ rights across this country. Every time a government sides with corporations over workers and interferes in the bargaining process, it weakens the ability of unions to fight for fairness, respect, and dignity at the bargaining table.
Our sisters and brothers at CUPE, representing Air Canada Flight Attendants, are simply exercising their fundamental right to withhold their labour in the fight for fair compensation and recognition of the critical work they perform. For the government to step in and silence that fight on behalf of one of Canada’s largest corporations is shameful.
This fight is not just about Air Canada flight attendants — it is about all of us. If the government can trample on their rights today, it can and will happen to any group of workers tomorrow. We must remain united, vigilant, and ready to push back against these attacks on collective bargaining.
Unifor Local 2002 stands in full solidarity with the flight attendants of Air Canada and with all workers whose rights are under threat. Together, we will continue to fight for respect, fairness, and the right to bargain freely without government interference.
In Solidarity,
Tammy Moore

The Aeroplan and Air Canada Bargaining Committees recently convened at the Unifor Local 2002 headquarters in Toronto to initiate a collaborative approach in preparation for the upcoming round of collective bargaining.
This marks a crucial and strategic step forward, as the new collective agreement will impact over 7,000 members nationwide, including employees in Airport Operations, Revenue Contact Centres, and Loyalty Contact Centres.
During the meeting, both committees expressed their commitment to working together in unity, with a shared focus on transparency, member engagement, and securing a fair outcome for all. This joint effort underscores the importance of a coordinated approach in addressing the needs and priorities of members across Canada.
The committees also confirmed plans for their next joint meeting, scheduled for September. Key milestones in the months ahead will include:
Drafting and distributing a national member survey
Scheduling proposal meetings
Organizing sessions to review and incorporate member feedback
As the process unfolds, the Bargaining Committees remain dedicated to maintaining open communication and fostering active engagement with all members. Regular updates will be provided to ensure members stay informed and empowered throughout the bargaining process.

Quick update from UMHQ this week 04/17/2025
Hello everyone,
The Company annouced increase in hours of operation, for september they are increasing the Vancouver office open until 2 am. The Montreal office will be open 24 hours.
They gave us a very detailed report on upgrades around AI. Always the fear is about what work we potentially could lose. It was a progess report we had in the past things are moving slowly for now.
Work from home the union requested discussion around more agents being granted access and also asked about the idea of hybrid shifts eg. 2 days in the office 3 days at home. The company said they were not opposed to the idea. Hoping for more discussions around thhis in the near future.
There was some discussion around leads, improving the department by allowing leads more freedom to be the one stop resolution the company always talks about.
The Next few months will be interesting, Although we are not yet feeling it more training is on its way so keep aware.
Take Care,
Ross.

In our July 2024 update, we mentioned that we were waiting for amendments to federal Income Tax Regulations (ITR). We are pleased to share that these amendments were approved and implemented in March 2025.
While there are still several steps and approvals needed before voluntary separation packages (VSPs) can be offered to employees or make lump sum payments to pensioners from the Share Trust, this is a significant milestone.
Now that the federal ITR amendments are done, the Company is pursuing a tax ruling from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) which will be followed by one from Revenu Quebec. The Quebec ruling will require an amendment to Quebec income tax regulations like the federal one. The Company has already started work to move forward with these rulings (and all the other steps), and now that we have the federal ITR amendment, the Company will be re-engaging with CRA for their ruling.
Unfortunately, the federal amendments took much longer than we would have expected or wanted, even with support from all parties. As a result, it's unlikely that VSPs and lump sum payments to pensioners will be offered or paid before early 2026. The Company has committed to moving forward as quickly as possible, but they don't control the timing for all approvals and conditions, so further delays are possible.
Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this process.

Dear Members of Unifor Local 2002,
On February 26, let's come together to recognize Anti-Bullying Day by wearing pink. By doing so, we stand with those who have experienced bullying and reaffirm our collective commitment to fostering workplaces and communities that are inclusive, respectful, and safe. Together, we can make a real difference.
The Story Behind Pink Shirt Day
In 2007, students in Nova Scotia stood up for a classmate who was bullied for wearing pink. That small act of kindness sparked a global movement, showing that when we unite against bullying, we can create lasting change.
Let’s Take Action on February 26
We encourage all members of Unifor Local 2002 to wear pink as a symbol of our values:
Kindness over cruelty
Unity over division
Respect over discrimination
Bullying isn’t just a childhood issue—it happens in workplaces, online, and throughout our communities. Its impact is often devastating, particularly for marginalized groups. By standing together, we can challenge harmful behaviors and create safer, more inclusive spaces.
Solidarity in Action
Unifor Local 2002 members are making a difference every day by:
Speaking out against bullying and discrimination.
Building inclusive, welcoming workplaces.
Fighting for fairness and equity.
Encouraging open conversations to challenge harmful behaviors and promote understanding.
We also recognize that bullying and division are sometimes used by those in power to distract from the real issues facing workers and communities. But history has shown that when we stand together, we achieve meaningful victories.
Join Us in Sending a Powerful Message
This Anti-Bullying Day, let’s make it clear: bullying has no place here. Wearing pink is more than a gesture—it’s a commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.
Share your stories and pictures with us on social media. Send your pictures to pinkshirt@unifor2002.org or tweet them using #Pinkshirt2002. We will post them to recognize your commitment to a bully-free workplace.
Let’s take a stand together. On February 26, wear pink and help build a world where everyone belongs.
In solidarity,
Tammy Moore

Dear Union Members,
We want to bring to your attention that the company is conducting itself in ways that are contrary to our collective agreement. They have been posting acting positions without notice and assignments that have not been approved by the union and are not in conformity with our agreement. Additionally, we are deeply concerned about the way attendance issues are being handled, as the company is not following the progressive steps outlined in labor practices, leading to unfair treatment.
Rest assured that your union is taking all legally positive actions to challenge these violations through the grievance process. We remain committed to protecting your rights and holding the employer accountable.
We also encourage you to keep us informed of any concerns or violations you may be experiencing. Whether it is attendance, monitoring and measurement etc... If there are issues we may not be aware of, please bring them to our attention so we can address them effectively.
Stay strong, stay focused, and continue the great work that you do every day.
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Commitee

Happy Lunar New Year Everyone, May the Year of the Snake bring everyone good health and Prosperity.
Updates, Our Bargaining Committee will be meeting with the company week of Feb 09, 2025. We exchanged proposals just before the Christmas Break. There will be minimal updates until we have news to bring back to the membership to Ratify. This agreement will bring us to 2026, then we go in to bargaining with the mainline.
Many received emails from the company that Cross training initiatives have been initiated. During the transition period, there maybe questions about functions. We are working hard to dissect and ensuring that scope is being respected during these confusing times.
Your Union Team.
