Hello everyone,
I need to communicate regarding the potential AC dispute. As most of you are aware the AC bargaining committee have been in negotiations and progress has been slow or non existant at times. The committee had to hire a conciliator to try to facilitate negotiations. This is a three month process which ends June 13th at 23:59. This date also represents when the AC employees will legally be on strike.
Talks are proceeding right up until June 13th 23:59.The group is still hopeful that a strike can be averted.
To be proactive, talking with the Caw National and our President we have put together a plan to assist the Aeroplan employees in getting into the workplace.
Recognising the AC fight and supporting that group completely, we also have to recognise that we are contractually bound to report to work as AC is not our employer.
The Union will be handing out Yellow Lanyards to all Aeroplan Employees. In the event of a dispute and picket you are to display the yellow lanyards and it has been arranged that the AC employees will let you pass with no problems. The lanyards are available at our d104 union office.
In the event that a problem occurs, please contact the local union office at 604 295 4220 to report any issues.
This is a difficult time for the Air Canada employees and we need to collectively support them, please understand that they have been advised that we do know their issues and will continue to support them through their dispute.
If you have any concerns please bring them forward to the local union office.
Take care,
Ross.
