Update for you,
Last week we met the Company in Montreal at the UMHQ. We presented a few lingering issues for resolution. I took the opportunity to discuss the LOD.( Letter of Discussion). In essence I told the Company to cease this practice as our membership find them annoying and threatening. We discussed that it appears that these letters are being handed out instead of coaching and mentoring. The Company said they will look at this and get back to us. We felt the meeting went well their seemed some will on the Company's part to work with us on the issues presented. I will post the minutes when they are delivered.
I want to give a big thanks to our shift committee. Despite the disadvantaged requirements from the 8 FTE returning to PT and the shift in Vaction patterns where the 1-9pm employees are now cycling into their vacations. They worked hard and under the gun, given 2 days to develop the schedule. It is the most unforgiving job that a union employee would ever do and my hat goes off to them.
Everyone have a great week, suns still shining.
Ross,

message from Our VP. August 7 2014
Dear Members of Unifor Local 2002 Pacific Region,
My name is Luis Melendez and I am the Pacific Region Vice president of Unifor Local 2002.
In my role as Pacific Region Vice President I am in regular contact with the District Chairpersons of Air Canada, Aeroplan, CLS Catering, Handlex and Servisair. I provide support to the districts through their respective chairpersons in the areas of training, education, communications, expense administration and activism. I represent the Pacific Region at the Local 2002 Executive board. The Board meets every three months and we discuss issues related to the administration of our Local Union and also issues such as labour campaigns and reports on workplace issues going on across the country.
I am working towards our Pacific Region continuing to be active and engaged. You are all welcome to participate in that goal by joining our Local’s different standing committees, becoming involved as a district officer, by joining and supporting other workers in their labour struggles, or participation as simple yet significant as making the effort to stay informed, attending a membership meeting, or voting at elections.
We will have the opportunity to coincide and meet at a membership meeting, rally, or while supporting other workers in their picket lines.
In Solidarity,
Luis Melendez
Vice President, Pacific Region
