SWANSEA HOME GUARD - On 18th May 1940, my grandfather George Bladen, aged 44, a grocer at Taylor & Co., Wind Street, Swansea, enlisted in the newly-formed Local Defence Volunteers (later renamed Home Guard) and served throughout the war.

Swansea's Three Nights Blitz
The worst bombing period during The Second World War occurred over three nights on Wednesday 19, Thursday 20, and Friday 21 February 1941. This period, to become known as the Three Nights' Blitz, started at 7.30 pm on 19 February.
