Then and Now

The Woodman Inn, 120 Mumbles Road, Blackpill, Swansea, is now part of the Chef and Brewer Pub a collection of traditional 'Pub - Restaurants'.

Woodman Rangers AFC in early sixties.

The team was based at the excellent Woodman Inn, Blackpill where the landlord, Cyril John (on the left), ran one of the friendliest pubs in Swansea. The original team below was:

Chairman, Cyril John, Mike Harvey, Gary Stranwick, Eddie Stockdale, Tony John, Ian Jones, Dai Lewis John Barrow.

Front Row: Harry Evans, John(Jake)Scott, John Saunders, Brian Colwill, Bob Edwards, Robert(Dickie)Rhodes.

Mascot:Clive John

The team was initially coached by Roy Evans (ex Swansea TownAFC) whose father in law, Ernie, was a regular.

During its long life, The Woodman Inn has changed its name and even its situation within Blackpill.

On the rear of the photo of the pub, was written,

'Woodman Inn, Blackpill, August 1941, do you recognise your home - notice the new addition of the porch. Dads House.'

The landlord Sydney James Griffiths, is proudly pictured alongside his limousine.
