A warm sunny day greeted eight Tuesday Group paddlers as they descended on new Quarter Park. Threatening weather had cancelled the trip the week before but this day was just about perfect. We rendezvoused at the ball field near the Park Office and caravaned back to the put-in point near hiking loop #7. Bruce and Margaret in their canoe and Mark F, Brian, Glen, Bob H, Bob M and Phyllis in kayaks unloaded boats and launched onto Queens Creek. The tide was heading out so we got a good work-out paddling that morning. We saw egrets, herons, eagles, snakes, turtles, lots of crabs and the "Blessed Ellis". We paddled until the water just about ran out and then turned back. No beaches beckoned so we found shade under the Rt. 132 bridge and ate our lunches there. Two jet skiers came zooming by but slowed when we hollered at them. Darn if that tide hadn't changed as we paddled back but this time the wind was with us. Margaret made use of her umbrella to harness the wind and give Bruce a break from paddling. We all arrived back at the put-in, loaded the boats back up and finished our trip at the Queen Anne Dairy Snak. Another good day for the Tuesday Group!
