First Landing to Rudee 4-19-11

First Landing State Park/Oceanfront/Owls Creek Bike Ride April 19,2011

Another beautiful spring day greeted 19 Tuesday group bikers as we met at Bloom on Shore Dr. Ellis, Marti, Kama, Van, Phyllis, Bob S., Bob M., Bob H., Dottie, Jean, Larry, Bill R, Jim, Christine, Vic, Margaret, Bill B., Diana & Dewey. Our route: First Landing State Park to the 64th St. entrance, then over to Atlantic Ave. to Oceanfront Ave. to the Oceanfront Boardwalk where we continued to the southern end. After a break to enjoy the view at Rudee Inlet, we met the challenge of riding up and over the Rudee Inlet Bridge and on past the Virginia Aquarium to Owls Creek Tennis Courts where we picnicked. After retracing our route, we arrived at Bloom to drop off a few who had to leave. Biking a few more blocks, we enjoyed Frozen Yogurt with yummy toppings at YoTini’s.

Several snakes, a few tumbles from bikes but no serious injury, outstanding riding skills as we dodged tourists along the Boardwalk (they never look!!), interesting conversations and lots of tempting toppings to put on our yogurt – now that’s another fun day for the Tuesday Group.
