Temperatures hovered in the 20s for some very warm-blooded Tuesday Groupers this day. Arctic weather forced a slight change in plans from biking to hiking but Tuesday Groupers adapt quickly and hiking boots quickly replaced bicycles for a walk in First Landing State Park. Our leader, Ellis, got us started [almost] on time and kept us moving at a good pace so we warmed up quickly. Hitting the trails today were: Vic, Margaret P, Sandy B, Sandy C and Dylan, Phyllis and Dale, Bob A, Bob Z, Van (who ran), Kama and Katrina. The trails were fairly busy with other walkers and runners out to enjoy the sunny but cool weather. We found a warm spot in the sunshine to eat our lunches and soak up some Vitamin D. Most turned back at the halfway mark while a few took the longer route. We covered between 5 and 10 miles--give or take. Back at the parking lot we decided to skip the traditional post-hike ice cream though some considered a hot chocolate break. Double ice creams next time!
