25 Tuesday Group members made the paddle along the Feeder Ditch into Lake Drummond. We paddled up stream for about three miles in a flow that seemed a little stronger going out than the last time we were there. After a short portage at the Corps of Engineers dam we approached our destination, Lake Drummond. Entering the lake we found glassy smooth tannic waters that perfectly reflected the grant old Cypress Trees along the banks.
Bruce took us to a Cypress tree he called the Witch. Some of the Group then decided to back their kayaks into an opening at the bottom of the tree. Others yelled do you see the snake? No snake was seen, however; nervous participant’s eyes were darting all around the inside of the tree.
In all too short of a time we had to return to the put-in. Getting a push from the current we returned along the Feeder Ditch to the boat ramp. It was another perfect day for the Tuesday Group.
