THE TUESDAY BIKE RIDE AT THE BEAR
WITH NO BEAR
May 31, 2011
On this warm day we had 7 Tuesday Groupers to face the heat. We started there where the bear once stood with a small breeze blowing and the ride was good. We had Dewey, Robb, Bob S, Vic, Katrina, Brian, and yours truly. The pace was fast for what ever reason and we only stopped once before reaching the end at 8.25 mile post. Guess we wanted to finish before it got HOT ! HA! HA! Turning back from here we shortly arrive at Ballahack Rd.. With 10 miles already biked some decided to head back to the trail head but Vic, Brian, and Bruce broke away from the group to do the 30 miles which we had plan on doing. The three of us made our first stop at Lake Drummond Baptist Church for water and then headed for Triple R Ranch. Turning onto Bunch Walnut Rd. we passed the ranch’s barn where the corral was full of hot horses, I asked about them and was told that they were having a ride that morning and the horses would soon be turned out. This made me fill better. We stopped here for a bathroom break and then headed towards Benefit Rd. The 5 miles to the fire station where we had our last stop of the trip, to eat lunch, only took a few minutes with the wind at our backs and with the new pavement. Bob S. met us there after finishing his 17 miles and here is where we took the only pictures of the ride. We left here after about 30 minutes and road down Douglas Rd. and reaching the trail we had 25 miles with only 5 more left. Reaching the parking lot I started my truck to cool it off and looking at the truck thermometer it read 99 degrees. Yes it was HOT ! We had a very good ride and hope we can have another one soon, hot weather and all.
