What do horses, burritos and a cookie hike have in common? The Tuesday Group of course! That combination proved a success despite some precipitation throughout the day. Mike hosted a ta
ilgate cookie party in the Mariner’s Museum parking lot with treats provided by participants prior to starting our walk. Cookie monsters this day included: Mike, Jim B, Jeanette, Tom, Brooke, Angie, Ellis, Marti, Sandy B, Sandy C, Vic, Margaret P, Jim and Chris S, and Phyllis. We trekked around the Noland Trail, covering the entire 5 miles, making one or two brief fuel stops for cookie consumption. We solved most of the problems of the world before completing our hike and ending up back at the parking lot. Next stop, Plaza Azteca, for MORE FOOD! There we were met by Carl (an infrequent Tuesday Grouper) for lunch and we downed burritos, enchiladas, fajitas and pollo rellenos (whatever they are). After lunch we headed over to AMC for the afternoon showing of “War House”. This is a superb film by Steven Spielberg that is set in England on the eve of and during the first World War. In a nutshell, the plot is: boy gets horse, boy loses horse, boy gets horse back. Along the way we learn how foolish humans can be and how heroic horses can be. We learn that war is a nasty business and nobody really enjoys shooting at one another. We learn that love and loyalty will triumph over fear and hatred. And we learn that turnips do not do well after a heavy rain. If your eyes are dry after this movie, then you have no heart. This is a 2 to 3 kleenex movie. Another great day for the Tuesday Group!
