Great Dismal Swamp Bike Ride
It was another cool day in the neighborhood as 13 Tuesday Groupers gather at the Trail Head this morning. We had John F., Sandy, Sandra, Dottie, Ken, Mark & Jean B., Katrina, Vic, Bob S., Bob M., Margaret and Bruce. It was 35 degrees when I stepped outside this morning but it did get all the way to 50 before we finished the ride. With the winds the chill factor felt like around 45 and no one took off any coats on this ride. A young girl with license plates that read “Alaska” got out of her 4x4 pick-up with a pair of shorts and a tank top to go jogging with her son, on his small bike, and their pet dog. Guess this weather was very mild to her.
We biked over to the fire station, there we had our lunch at the picnic tables, with 16 miles covered and after finishing lunch we did another 7 miles with a total of 23 miles. Some of us had already voted before we got to the bike ride, but others thought the lines would be too long in the morning so they were wanting to get back early to vote. We were back by 1:30 and skipping ice cream, because of the cold, we all headed home after having a good bike ride with friends. Thanks to all that rode in the cold today.
