Harwood Mills Hike 2-7-11

Another great day for a hike with the Tuesday Group. We met at the parking lot there on Oriana Rd. next to the reservoir. We had 18 on this hike and one that showed up late and tried to catch up with the group but was not able to find us in the 4 or 5 thousand acre park. She was, successful in finding us at SweetFrog, enjoying all of the flavors of Yogurt ice cream.

On this trip we had Marti, Ellis, Ken, Dottie, Kama, Jane, Bill B, Bob S, Carl, Angela, Diana, Katrina, Christine, Don, Phyllis, Bob M, Margaret, and Bruce with Jeanette being the one that showed up a little late. So guess you could say that we had 19 on this trip.

About half way through the hike of 5.5 miles we took a early lunch break next to the lake. We wanted to see some birds, but for some reason there was none to be seen. Lots of planes taking off and landing at the Newport News/Wimsburg Int’l Airport may have scared them away. Bad Planes ! We did have time for a few short stories, which some of the group were able to remember from a few years earlier in their life, but the best one of all was the frozen dog story, with all of the animation and expression that went along with it. We all had the best time laughing at this one, you just had to be there to enjoy it. Well, next week you can, we will be at Sandra’s Farm for another Winter Hike. Don’t worry it will not be long before warmer weather is here and we can get back on our bikes and into our kayaks and canoes. Thanks for another great day hiking with the Tuesday Group.
