"Oh to be young with more time on my hands than I had money."
Cheap budget build hoods were a thing. Hold my beer and give me a saw jaw. This started out easy, but then it turned into my "learning from mistakes" project.
Striped paint down to bare metal.
Built my design vent with modeling clay from a local art supply store.
Duck tape was used to reinforce the clay underneath the hood.
Started laying down fiberglass mat and resin. I used the thin weaved mat. If I could do it again, I would layered the entire top of the hood. Instead I tried going a foot all the way around the design. It worked, but it could improved.
All the different colors are from body filler, Self etching Primer, and primer sealer. Just trying out different recipes
To make the slant eyes, aka eye brows, I taped off the headlights and closed the hood. Next I used a short fiber strand mix known as "kitty hair" and formed my shape. Used body filler on top.
Body Filler time. over and over. Sand and sand. Repeat till satisfied. Roll on urethane primer sealer. You can use a roller or bush that says safe for all paints and stains. Finally, I sanded it smooth.
