SuperCharger

Supercharger is a Eaton 18036, 18042 a.k.a. M62 with the electromagnetic clutch. It's commonly found off of the Mercedes SLK230 C230 2.3L. The clutch can be enabled or disabled by a toggle switch. Jim Krieter and Andy Burt installed the original setup in 2011and I have changed some plumbing since then. I wanted the supercharger mainly for the sound. I heard one on a ford probe at Myrtle Madness in 2005 and decided I had to have that setup.

My setup is low boost. I have an underdrive crank pully which creates a loss in volumetric efficiency(produces less air than design), but an increases adiabatic efficiency(the supercharger consumes less energy (HP) from the engine to drive it). The oversized intake piping also creates even more lost on volumetric efficiency. With stock engine internals and still wanting to run a 75 shot of Nitrous, I am perfectly fine with my setup. You can definitely tell a difference though running it at the lower RPM range.

Depending on the blow off valve used results in different sounds. I set my BOV to very soft so it bleeds off as long as the throttle is opened less than about 60%. Over 60% close to Full throttle the bov closes and is silent.

In 2021, I made service block off covers for my supercharger so I could clean it and work on it. There are supercharger syringe kits claiming you can change your oil on your super charger without having to take it off. I tried using a syringe and F.A.I.L.! Drained it the old fashion way and toped it off with fresh supercharge oil 110ml.

From 25 feet away the supercharger measured 95.4 dB's of sound volume.

The supercharger mounting bracket is custom fabricated. It is a 1/2 inch aluminum plate with aluminum bolt spacers. It mounts to the engine block into stock bolt holes made for the air condition compressor.

The O.E.M. inlet pipe was the stock cut short to allow us to use a 90 rubber elbow.

The outlet adaptor and mounting brackets were made by a Jim This allowed for the supercharger to add 3" inch intake piping setup. 90 angle pipe welded onto a steal plate. Notches are for the bolt mounts.

An oil filter relocator had to be used to make room. the oil filter adaptor plate was fabricated out of 3/4 steal with AN lines to work with the relocator kit.

Filter is mounted to the drivers side frame.

Jim K. used one of his spare Vortech FMU for additional fuel. We went with the 10.1 ratio for the stock fuel injectors.

Depending on 12 to 14 volts the current averages between 3 to 4 amps when engaged on. Uses around 40 to 45 Watts of energy. I use a 10 amp fuse with it.

The red wire with green strip is the Positive Anode 12v+. The Green wire is the ground Cathode - negative.

Before the connector on the super charger side the black with white strip is the positive anode 12v+ and the solid black is the ground cathode - negative.
