Behold my 17-year-old self, customizing and rolling around in my sweet Sunfire!
I purchased the car in 2003 from the Mazda of Knoxville dealer. The 1st modification I did were the wheels, the 2nd was lowering springs. Next, I spray painted the interior dash, and it took off from there. I started with a homemade hood because I couldn't afford the real carbon fiber one just yet. This was a budget build project car, with small modifications made each year. Now more than 15 years in, the time and work added up to a highly modified car.
1st owner bought it in Knoxville TN and sold it back to the dealership in 2003.
Clean accident report - I never had notice any structural damage. I only have a few dings and scrapes
Super Street is the biggest influencer for this car. Early 2001 editions especially. Then the forums pages as Probe Addiction, mx6.com forums, Facebook pages and more. The Fast and The Furious just backed it up.
The local performance shops that supported the build. Racing Innovations was a great place to go get sport compact/import tuner advice and parts up till 2010 before they closed their doors. Chris and Harry where they guys to talk to. Knoxville also has Performance Products which is still around.
Race Shop was it a shopping center in West Knoxville.
eBay has been my number 1 go to for rare parts. Search it daily. Been shopping on it since 2006. Some hit or miss on good parts, make sure you read the description! Don't rely on photos only.
Amazon, Advance Auto, and O'reilly Auto Parts have been good for new purchases on parts and maintenance. Facebook marketplace is ok, had some good and bad purchases.
No Dyno results? Around the early 2000, Dyno's didn't seem popular at the time for the car culture scene I grew up in. There were only a few shops around that had Dynos and they were pricey. It was more about making it look like not a bad way to spend 10,000 under the hood without doing it. I have enjoyed testing performance parts out, seeing if there is a gain or lost in feeling. I don't need a computer to tell me that.
