The car was professionally painted by me in my garage that lacked climate control, with the sides and top carefully lined with heavy duty plastic to shield dust and act like a paint booth of some sort. The chosen paint color was Bordeaux Red (R78P), a vibrant shade of Honda red. A Gravity Fed Paint Sprayer was utilized to apply the paint, ensuring a smooth and even finish hopefully. The paint was sourced from O'Reilly Auto Parts, which features a certified paint department, guaranteeing quality in there stuff I hope!
Before applying the paint to the car, it is essential to ensure the surface is perfectly prepared. This involves wet sanding the surface to create a smooth finish, which helps the paint adhere better. After wet sanding, the car must be cleaned one final time to remove any dust or debris. This thorough preparation process is crucial for achieving a professional-looking paint job that not only looks great but also lasts longer hopefully.
he first step is to carefully tape off areas using painter's tape and cover surfaces with painter's paper. This helped keeping paint off of the car that shouldn't be painted. Next, it's important to spray paint the door jams first. After this, the doors are closed to allow for a smooth application of paint on the full exterior of the car.
The Trunk, Mirrors, Gas Door, and Door Handles were painted the next week.
After painting the car, there were some orange peel in the clear coat. To fix this, I wet-sanded the surface to smooth it out and then buffed it for a good finish. In some of the pictures, you can see a white residue at the bottom of the side skirts, which is part of the process.
