Mazda Millenia S Fuel Injector Overview
The Mazda Millenia S features a supercharged Miller-cycle KJ-ZEM V6 engine, which is equipped with high-flow fuel injectors. These injectors are more efficient than the standard KL-DE injectors.
The KL-DI model uses blue stock 220cc injectors.
The Millenia S has red 280cc injectors.
Mazda enthusiasts often swap these injectors to enhance performance for forced induction, high-compression builds, or larger engine setups like KL-ZE swaps.
I need to decide how to manage my fuel system. Since I can turn off the supercharger and nitrous, I will need to adjust for all three settings.
Things to Watch Out For
Tuning Required: It is essential to retune your Engine Control Unit (ECU) — for example, using Megasquirt, a chipped ECU, or a piggyback system — to adjust for the increased fuel flow.
Possible Fitment Adjustments: Some users have reported needing to make minor modifications to the fuel rail seals or spacers to achieve a proper fit.
Idle and Fuel Trims: Without appropriate tuning, you may experience poor idle performance and elevated fuel consumption.
Not Suitable for Stock Engines: If you are not enhancing airflow through methods such as turbocharging, camshaft upgrades, or porting, the stock injectors will generally suffice.
