Personal Connection:
I am interested in this topic because I think agriculture is very important to a pueblo and with the way were planting now we won't be able to plant soon. I have personal experience with this because my family has fields that they rely on for a lot of things and they are needed for our traditional doings. I was never really interested in agriculture or the environment at first but after I took Ericson and Kai T class I became interested. In Erikson's classroom he talked about the effects of flood irrigation and what it does to the soil, he also took us to SFCC where they have a aquaponics system and that really fascinated me. It could solve the problem we have with flood irrigation.
This article talks about their studies on the change of underground water in flood irrigation fields. It highlights the changes in the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil we use to plant.

Article: The article talks about the rising salt levels in soil and groundwater change. Flood irrigation is contributing to these problems. Flooding the land is bring salts up from the ground. The main point of this article is to tell you about the biological, chemical and physical changes that are happening to the soil due to flood irrigation.

Art 2: This article talks about all the money that is being used to feed native communities and all the efforts to keep the environment healthy. They talk about food sovereignty and funding that feeds native americans, it talks about the importance of these things. It talked about how if we lose our food sovereignty we can lose some of independence as a Pueblo.

“Impacts Of Climate Change Adaptation Options On Soil Functions”
These Impacts are happening everywhere. In Europe they are dealing with the same problems as us. They are looking and trying different solutions to solve this problem, one of the ways they are doing this is by using irrigation regimes to reduce erosion on the soil.

“Effect Of Climate Change On Soil Chemical And Biological Properties”
The effects of climate change are higher average temperatures and drier soil. Climate change affects many things that connect to agriculture and the land. This could mean that the soil is gonna be drier and it's gonna take more water from the fields and that means they dry up faster and become more dry and it's a cycle after that.
