Schools are different now then they were when Joseph Suina went to school. In the article “And then I went to School”Joseph Suina's color story kept me engaged with this memoir of his life. Starting as a young native child very isolated in a warm and supportive environment. His formative years up to six years old were beautiful and his self image flourished. After starting school he had to learn a new way of life that took away that self image. However after getting used to this new way he became somewhat comfortable with his traditional ways and somewhat embraces both ways of life.

Memories and stories are connected to our land as described by, B Toastie in the article “ How Place names impact the way we see landscape,”. Every land we see has a greater meaning than just a mountain or hill. The author talks about “place identity” which means that the person identifies with the landscape on a deeper level. “ Place names and the stories behind them define how we perceive and connect to landscapes” When we hear stories of landscapes we see them differently and respect them more.

Sports started to have rules and regulations after multiple players started getting head injuries in the article "Concussion Timeline” we learn these rules and protocols that sports have to go by. We learn about the first helmet created, and more equipment being more protective of the players. We also have ruled that players and coaches have to follow on field and at practice.

CTE is real and needs to be addressed even if people don't like it or think itś not real. In the article ¨Concussions in Pro sports¨ talks about the history of concussions and symptoms. The article talks about for a long time NFL or any other sports didn´t believe or accept concussions. They didn't want to believe what it will cause players in the future.

Aaron Hernandez (81), of the New England Patriots, lost his helmet during this play against the New York Jets in 2011. Hernandez died by suicide in 2017, and researchers found that he had had one of the most severe cases of CTE ever seen in someone his age.
CTE is not talked about regularly in sports or outside of sports. In the video ¨Why athletes develop Brain damage & What to do about it?” . Talked about a lot of the effects and history. How there are actually two symptoms of CTE, progressive and early. How CTE cannot be diagnosed until after someone that has it dies and how athletes can be misdiagnosed.

Information that athletes should know or be warned about playing football. Reading this article ¨Concussion in Athletes¨ gave me a better understanding on how CTE can affect a players body. The article discusses athletes seeking health care if you have a head injury, especially if you have certain symptoms. To return to play you have to follow the Concussion Treatment and Recovery for Athletes and get permission to be granted to play. “To return to play you must be granted permission from a doctor but you can go through stages. Not all concussion symptoms will develop in minutes immediately following an injury. Many will develop over the hours after a concussion¨ The article also talks about prolonged symptoms can also rise in children.

Concussions can be serious and can happen in any sports, and can happen a lot to NFL players in the game. In this article ¨What is the NFLs concussion protocol? Tua Tagovailoa injury puts policy in spotlight¨. Begins talking about Tua The Miami Dolphins Quarterback recent head injuries. The NFL players association is launching investigations into what went into the dolphins to allow Tua to return to play the game. The article then talks about concussion protocol in the NFL. The protocol was developed by an independent board and league physicians and scientists. Once they are mandated to be taken off the field of play immediately and examined in the medical tent to assess injury. ¨Agree that modifications are needed to enhance player safety¨. The article describes the steps for returning players. (1) Symptom-limited activity. (2) Aerobic exercise. (3) Football-specific exercise. (4) non-contact training drills. (5) Full football activity/ clearance.

In this article ¨Soccer players head injury risk could be reduced with simple adjustments to the ball study finds¨. The article focused on soccer players' head injuries. The study found higher pumped balls caused high risk of concussions. They did research by comparing 3 soccer ball sizes. The study found size 4.5 was the safest ball to play with. Not only does the ball size can cause concussions but if the ball is wet from water it can also pose a risk to players.

As I enhance my knowledge on my topic about head injuries the article ¨Longer careers in ice hockey are linked to a greater risk of CTE, a new study finds.¨ npr: Becky Sullivan. CTE can only be diagnosed after death, and CTE before death can cause mood swings, memory issues or headaches. Hockey is unique from other sports because it is played on ice and thick glass which is a way harder surface than grass and dirt. NHL players had concussion over his pro career. ¨Most of what we've learned has been in the football space, because most of our brain donors have been football players.¨ Learning about different players' brains that play in different sports, shows how head injuries can be in any sport.

Boxing can be cool to watch but we don't know how much it takes a toll on fighters. The article ¨boxing is a mess: The darkness and damage of brain trauma in the ring¨ By Donald McRae. Famous boxer Tony Jeffries calculated to be punched in the head ¨between 40,000 to 50,000 times in the head. Instead of CTE the boxing society calls it punch drunk syndrome. Which causes the same symptoms as CTE, like Muhammad Ali which suffered from multiple concussions which led to his retirement.
