Now The exact History Of Autism doesn't have a precise timeline. It has been around throughout all of human History. “I mean Einstein, Mozart, And Tesla Would all probably be diagnosed with autistic spectrum today.” -Temple Grandin, TED talk
The First person to be diagnosed with autism was Donald Gray Triplett known as Case 1. In 1943 Child psychologist Dr. Kanner (image above) wrote documents on 11 children who were on the spectrum, He claimed that this was incredibly rare. By The 1950s he was the World's leading Autism expert. Though Kanner's definition and cause were narrow, Blaming Refrigerator moms or Unaffectionate Parents were the cause.
The result of this Led Autism to be seen as a source of shame and judgment.
Two Generations of children were shipped off to mental Institutions
The reason was “for their own good.”
In the 1970s Lorna Wing an English Psychiatrist, said that kanners theory and I quote.
“We're bloody stupid.” She used Hans Aspergers (an Austrian doctor from the 1940s)
Work to prove that Kanners Autism Model was way too narrow. Asperger's work called his patients “little professors” he saw that it was a Diverse Continuum. Not the result of Cold mothers.
In the 1990s Early anti-vaccine groups connected Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Vaccines causing Autism. This May be because Autism Identifications were rising and the fear around it was making people have Irrational thoughts. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT VACCINATIONS CAUSE AUTISM. The reason why more people are being diagnosed is because the diagnosis for it broadened over time.
Grandin, T. The way I see it: A personal look at autism & Aspergers. Future Horizons Inc. 1st Edition Foreword
In the 1980s Dr Temple Grandin started to break down the stigma and judgment as she was an autistic adult. At the NSAC (National Society of autistic children) she answered parents' questions on why their children spinned or stimmed. In 1986 Temple Grandin released a book called Emergence: labeled Autistic A decade later she released Thinking in Pictures. She became a sought-after speaker in the Autism community.

RFK jr who is the head of heath by the time SHP come to the public. Now RFK is a huge anti vaccine propagandist. Sure in major news he says he is not an anti vaxxer. But his statements in multiple podcasts say otherwise. Even the President of Autism Science Foundation, said that this is dangerous. These could lead to children dying from easily preventable diseases.
Currently 1 out of 36 children have autism. With the world becoming more and more active it can be mentally exhausting.Giant stadiums are starting to accommodate for people with autism via changing it so people wont be overwhelmed. So how can we have stadiums adapt to accommodate for people with ASD but not public schools. Sure some more private schools do provide accommodations but most schools lack the funding. The only way parents could get some accommodations is IEP meetings. Most see it as an emotional marathon and fighting with how they should teach their children. We have theses legal battles that are happening yearly. We need people to be dedicated for every kind of thinker.
Racism is also a problem too, children of color are less likely to receive services. This is why we need to fight for where all students can participate.
