In the article, ¨sharing one skin¨ by Jeanette Armstrong Is about this girl who is Native American and grew up in a community called Okanagan, she mainly talks about her connection between her and her ¨kind¨ native land, along with what certain words/things mean to her. She talks about the differences about her spiritual self, emotional self, and what her mindset is mainly focused on, how her community has true self and great power. She always was ¨thinking intellectual¨, basically having a monkey brain. I would say she had a big heart because she was always caring, she always thought about her community, and her language for them all. The Okanagan community teaches anything that requires survival in health.

Memories and stories are connected to our land as described by B. Toastie in the article, ¨How place names impact the way we see landscape¨. Names impact the way we see land because of how many stories have a place to it. The land may have a meaning or a value towards them, each place has an identity, many of our landscapes are drawn to stories we all have heard from our ancestors, stories define our landscape ans ways to reveal us indigenous sacrifices such as eviction, relocation, mistreatment, and environmental, they also define a person's identity concerning their physical surroundings.

¨Homeless in the U.S¨ from the national coalition for the homeless is explaining ways that many people may experience homelessness like having mental illness or being addicted towards drugs. This article talks about the differences between becoming homelessness and being introduced to homelessness. ¨lack of employment opportunities with unemployment ratio remaining high, jobs are hard to find in the current economy¨ this is a large thing towards many people because there is no way to avoid poverty even if you got a job which could also make people slowly become homeless.

In this article ¨u.s homelessness hits record levels¨ by Meader, Sofia talks about how homelessness is interesting by the years and many of these people who are experiencing homelessness, are either on the streets living in cars, tents, and parks. A third of people were 25 and under, which they were experiencing homelessness on their own. The pandemic (covid-19) made housing less affordable and also increased homelessness, ¨the increases in homelessness came as housing became more challenging for many americans.¨ The federal policies prevented evictions and provided assistance payments during the year of covid 19.

P, Sarah. “Blog #2: Homeless Kids Hurt Most in Los Angeles Teacher Strike.” Sarah’s Blog, Published by SarahP, 24 Jan. 2019, sarahs.news.blog/2019/01/21/blog-2-homeless-kids-hurt-most-in-los-angeles-teacher-strike/.
I read an interesting article called ¨young adults in Los Angeles with unstable housing face challenges to avoiding becoming chronically homeless¨ By Hunter. B, Sarah, many young adults who do not have a home and are not in school or have gotten their diploma. There are young adults who are homeless and are having a kid or having children. Those who don't have a home are having involvement with criminal justice, which states in the article ¨connecting youth to traditional approaches to increasing stability and income such as educational and employment supports. They will help to promote successful transitions to adulthood.¨ From that they could get into transitional programs and shelters. These young adults are between the ages of 18-25, from not having stable homes they often have mental health struggles or are involved with the foster care system as well.

¨indigenous peoples¨ from the website of homeless hub mainly talks about indigenous people and how they are more likely to experience homelessness. Also how it could be caused which is to be traced back to historical trauma, oppression, racism, and discrimination.¨ as it states in the article from homeless hub. This mainly talked about how abuse and trauma can remove children from their families with the goal of taking and erasing their language and culture. Which they could also put in a welfare system or or be placed with a white family, even an individual in the family or community that has the issue of substance use, addiction, health issues and violence.

I am interested in my Topic ¨Destitution of Native Children: How Homelessness affects Native Communities. ¨ due to experience on how I once had a family member who was in an emergency shelter due to his parents not being in the right state of mind. After seeing the emotional effect this had on him, I became concerned with this issue in my community at large. We took that family member into our home and gave him a stable place to live for a year or so which made a positive change. After seeing how deeply my one family member was affected by homelessness, I can see how the whole pueblo of santo domingo has family members who have experienced this, this is a common occurrence for family members to know someone that was temporarily homeless.
