All the stories share their own experiences and how it has impacted them with fires that have costed them pretty much everything in land. They all shared their commitment to helping restore the forest that was burnt down. From Planting 200,000 trees to plating OVER 1.5 MILLION trees, they expressed that not only was it habitats and ecosystems affected by this but also the surrounding communities were also hurt by the intensity of the damages that was costed. How i Connected with this piece was going to Bear Canyon (Wyah - lah - Pah kwah) during the summer and planting over 2,000 trees with the Natural Resources Department to help plant trees in the burnt scars.

A connection that I have with this topic is just really being in the mountains and seeing all the open vegetation on the mountain side and not there being that many trees growing due to wildfires. I understand that there is something that is called “Prescribed Burning” which is the controlled application of fire to land to achieve; which is basically saying it’s a more easier way to remove some vegetation so if there ever was a wildfire there wouldn’t be much to burn. I have always been interested in this sort of topic because its cool, I have a friend that is apart of the Rio Grande and Willard Peak Fire Crew and they recently went out into Oregon and hope after highschool i am able to complete all certifications to become a Wildfire Firefighter.
