The second one is they emotional self, how everything comes from their land and their community and how they work together. The third self is the thinking/intellectual self, which is often called "the spark" and like a fire, with how it need fuel to grow bigger. Micah Abraham wrote the article “A Brief History of Anxiety” In this article Abraham talked about how anxiety, panic and just any problems that had something to with mental health, were handled. The earliest that was talked about and looked into, was ancient greece. During Ancient Greece they thought, and when I say ‘they’ I mean the male philosophers at the time, anxiety came from poison that came from women. Abraham also covered times during the renaissance, in its early days, the victorian era, and when the American Civil War was happening, ect. Most of the ways that people, in history, dealt with mental health issues ended up being more harmful than helping. Ways like sending them to asylums, conducting lobotomization, using electroshock therapy, using opium, and in some cases, just killing them, have done more harm than they ever did to help.

Anxiety in teens is a subject that needs to be talked about more and in the article “School and Teens Anxiety: FAQ” written by Dina Nunziato. When reading this I realized that this article was made for parents of teens with anxiety but it is still a good source of information nonetheless. It covers topics such as what can help with control with school related anxiety, and how anxiety can affect school performance.

Gillian L.S. Hilton wrote the article titled, “School Counsellors in England, Tackling a Children’s Mental Health Crisis”. In here Hilton talks about how counsling affects the students but also the different things that go into becoming a counselor in England. After COVID-19 had shut everything down all over the world, England ran a survey. In this survey they questioned students and they found that once schools, and other places got shut down, their mental health started to decline. They saw how stressed and scared the students had become once they started online school, how everywhere got shut down, how they couldn’t leave home. Hilton also said that the students who took counseling seemed to be doing better than the ones who didn’t.

“Smartphone Addiction, Problematic Social Media Use and Mental Health Problems Among Young Adults” Written by Adeela Kanwal. Any kind of addiction is bad, so this article talks about the side effects of cell phone addiction. When you use your phone it isn’t bad, but when you start to use it so much that it has become a problem that is when it starts to play a role in your health, both mental and physical health. Some of the symptoms that come with using phones and social media too much are, anxiety, depression, behavior issues, mood swings, aggressive behavior, insomnia, and suicidal ideations. All of these symptoms have a negative impact on the person using their device too much and the people around them.
I have been struggling with Generalized Anxiety disorder (GAD) and pretty frequent panic attacks for the past 7 years. They started in middle school because of how I was doing with my school work. I did not get the help I needed right away in middle school, but I did once I got into high school. Along with that help, my panic attacks and anxiety had gotten worse. I have gotten better on how I manage my attacks, how to prevent them, and how to open up to the people who matter to make sure that I can get the help I need and also to make sure they do not get worse. In my years at SFIS, I have seen upperclassmen, lower classmen and my own peers deal with the stresses of being a student without having a way to deal with it so they end up crying and breaking down in class or in the hallways, where eyes follow them. I have heard how work piles up for staff members, to a point where they are struggling to reach deadlines. I want to bring more awareness to the struggle that people in schools go through both to the ones at the desk during the day, and to the ones hunched over a laptop replying to emails or struggling with homework.
