Unique Lighting

For this project we were assigned to take images of unique lighting. I chose to use these two colorful lights and a mirror to demonstrate unique lighting. I used my Canon Rebel T5 to take this image. Some of the photographic techniques I used are: high key lighting shown by the two blue and red lights, informal balance is used because the image is not centered, you could count the frame of the mirror as high horizon, and I used angle down so that I could capture the reflection in the mirror. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: the blues and reds represent color, there are different shape on the face of the lights, there is space shown around the lights in the mirror, and the lights also show form. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: The balance used in this photo is informal balance because the lights are not centered, contrast is shown by the difference in colors, and there is emphasis on the two lights which are the subjects of the photo. This photo relates to my life because I got these two nightlight from my grandmother who lives in Michigan when I was really young.
