Landscape

For this project we were assigned to take creative images of landscapes. I didn't want to take just any ordinary image of a landscape so I decided to use the reflection of a puddle to show that landscape. I think that the second image is shows more of the landscape, but I like the first one better overall. I used my Canon Rebel T5 to take this image. Some of the photographic techniques I used are: the trees represent grouping, the snow represents high horizon line, the lines of the road and the trees represent leading lines, and sharp focus is used because the puddle is in focus and the rest of the image is blurry. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: there are blues and greens that are shown in the puddle and some other colors throughout the image, the trees and the road represent line, you can see many different shapes in the reflection and the puddles are circles, and you can also see the different textures on the road and in the reflection. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: the balance that is shown in this image is formal balance, there is emphasis on the puddle because it is in the center of my photo, there are patterns on the branches and in the trees, and contrast is shown by the opposite colors and texture. This image relates to my life because I live in Maine which has thousands of trees, this also relates to my life because this is in the driveway to my house.
