Complementary colors

For this project we were assigned to take images images that used complementary colors in them; the two complementary colors that I used were red and green. The only technology that I used to take this image were my Canon Rebel T5 and photoshop which I used to adjust the saturation. Some of the photographic techniques that I used were: high key lighting which is shown by the bright colors, close up, I know that selective focus is used because the subject is in focus and the background is blurry, leading lines which is shown by the leaf and the lines of the top of the cactus, and the needles and the top of the cactus represent grouping. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: color shown by the bright reds and greens, line which is shown by the leafs and the needles on the cactus. and texture is used because you can see the smoothness of the leaf and the roughness of the cactus. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: contrast is shown by the opposite textures and colors, there is emphasis on the top of the cactus because this is what your eye is drawn to, and pattern is shown on the top of the cactus. This image relates to my life because my sister got this cactus over the summer when she found out that she was accepted into Cheverus High School. This image makes me feel good because I really like how much detail I got on the top of the cactus- I also like the bright colors that are used in this photo.
