Glass/Transparency

For this project we were told to take pictures of glass or anything transparent, I chose to take a picture of a glass candle holder. I edited this image by making the background black and white, I used photoshop and my camera to create this image. Some of the photographic techniques I used are: high key lighting shown by the bright colors, rule of thirds is used because to subject takes up 2/3 of the image, Selective focus is used because the background is blurry and the subject is in focus, and close distance is also used. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: Color, line shown by the metal frames , and shape which is shown by the different shapes used in this image. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: contrast shown by the difference in colors and texture , the kind of balance used in this photo is informal balance. By creating this image I learned how to use selective color more precisely. This completed work makes me feel good because I think that I did a good job using selective color.
