Portrait

For this project we were assigned to take portrait photographs. Over the weekend I went to babysit my friends dog, Pearl , and while I was there I thought that I could get a good portrait photo of her. I used my Canon Rebel T5 to take this image to photoshop to turn it black and white. Some of the photographic techniques I used are: formal balance is shown because both sides of the image are the same, sharp focus because the image I very clear, and the legs and tail act as leading lines. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: the legs and tail represent line, you can see the texture on the grass and the dog, and you can also see the geometric shapes. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: formal balance is used, contrast is shown by the opposite textures and colors, and there is emphasis on the dog because the lines lead you to the center of the photo where the dog is. If I could change something about this photo, I wish I would have not cropped the dogs paw.
