Conflict

For this project we were assigned to take an image that showed conflict, so I decided to take an image of two broken eggs in a carton full of perfect looking eggs. I used my Canon Rebel T5 and the darkroom process to create this print. Some of the photographic techniques I used are: low key lighting is used because of the dark colors. Grouping is used because there are multiple eggs. Leading lines is shown around the eggs. Formal balance is used because both sides of the image look the same. Selective focus is also used because the foreground is in focus and the background is blurry. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: the geometric shape of the eggs represent shape. Different textures are shown on different eggs, the broken eggs are rough and the normal eggs are smooth. There is also a good range of grey's on the value scale. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: the balance used is formal balance because both sides of the photo look the same. There is contrast shown in color and in texture on the eggs. There is emphasis on the broken egg in the front because it is the only one that is different. There is also a pattern shown by the eggs. This completed work makes me feel okay, because I think that is could be a little big more interesting. This image relates to my life because we own and raise chickens. The eggs in this picture are cracked because our chickens like to step on them.
