Self Portrait

For this project we were assigned to take portraits of ourselves. I decided to take a image of my eye to represent myself. I used photoshop to do selective color on my eye, i also used my Canon Rebel T5 to take this image. Some of the photographic techniques I used are: since the image is black and white it shows low key lighting, selective focus is used because the eye is the only thing in focus, the eye lashes represent leading lines, formal balance is used because both sides of the image are closely related, and my eyebrow hairs, eyelashes, and hair show grouping. I used the following elements of art in my artwork: my eye represents color, my eyebrow hairs, eyelashes, and hair represent line, texture is shown in all the parts of this photo, and throughout my eye there are different shapes. To add interest to my composition, I used these principles of design: the balance used in this photo is formal balance, since this photo is in black and white it is very easy to distinguish the different textures and colors, there is emphasis on the eye because it is in the center of the photo and its the only thing in color, and you can also see different patterns in my eye. This image relates to my life because it is a self portrait of myself. If I could change one thing about this I would have made the eye brighter.
