Artist Inspired

For my artist inspired assignment, I created a painting of a birthday cake using cubism. I painted on canvas with acrylic paints. This is cubism because it uses a variety of geometric shapes to create the bigger picture. Color also helps the viewer to see the image because it separates the image from the background. Cubism started in the early 1900's, but I decided to use bright colors to make my art look more modern. I outlined the shapes in black because it makes the yellow background shapes stand out because they have a similar value. The black outline also allows for a better understanding of what the image is.
