For this project I was assigned to create a work of art out of an ink spill. When I first saw the ink spills on my paper, I tried turning the paper in all different directions to see what I was working with. At first I didn't see any specific shapes or objects, but after thinking for a few minutes, I saw animal ears and a small nose. I knew that I immediately wanted to draw a dog because they are my favorite animal. After I drew the dog, there were still 2 ink spills left. As I looked at them, I thought that one kind of looked like a head. It had little features on the side that looked like facial features. Because of that and the proportion to the dog, I decided to draw a baby. After this, there was still one ink spill left, and I didn't know what I wanted to turn it into. At first, I pictured it being the child's mother and putting them in an outside setting, but as I drew that, I realized that it wouldn't have much meaning and would be boring. Then I saw a Christmas tree ornament, so I decided to do a Christmas scene. I started by drawing out the tree and fireplace with graphite, then used watercolor to paint it. I also used graphite and watercolor for the dog and the baby. Looking back on this project, I can see a lot of things that I wish I did differently. First, I wish I would've been more creative on what I wanted to draw. I also with I would've expanded on the tools that I used. I feel like I sort of rushed this project because I was using watercolor and only had one period to finish it, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to use it at all. I think I did good on the puppy and the baby, I just wish I did something different for the background scene.
