Concentration #5

Concentration #5 was the last project assigned to us this year in 3D. We had to make one final piece depending on our concentrations. Since I really liked doing the stained glass project that I did for my last concentration, I decided to use the same method and do it again. This time, since we had less time to complete concentration #5 than #4, I decided to use a smaller piece of glass as my base. I began by finding pieces of glass to make two stars that were going to be the main focus of the stained glass piece. I wanted to make two stars this time because I want it to be different from my previous concentration but also have the same theme. I glued the stars down, then grabbed a bunch of black pieces to place around the stars. There weren't quite enough black pieces of glass to fill the whole space, so I had to break a sheet of black glass myself, which was new for me as I didn't have to do that for my last project. As I added the black pieces, I added little pieces of light yellow and white glass into the gaps just like I did in my last project. I wanted these two final projects of my concentration to look like they come in a set, which is why I did pretty much the same thing with #5. When I finished gluing pieces on, I put it in the glass kiln to fire it. Although I had a little glass accident along the way, this project was a lot of fun to make and I really enjoy using glass. My second project with fused glass came out well just like the other one. If I were to do anything different, I would probably try not to use any of the dark purple glass, but it was hard to tell what glass was black and what glass was purple because the purple was very dark.
