Paper Sculpture

For our first project, we first had to think of a word that describes how our first semester of school was. I chose the word "busy" because I have been very busy doing variety of different things that I hadn't done before. I started by cutting strips of paper into different lengths and widths, then rolling all of them into different spirals. I started with the biggest one and made it very simple. Then, I decided that in order to convey the word "busy" I needed to create different patterns with the paper to make it random and unique. For my next spiral, I made one side of the strip of paper wavy and it made it look a little bit like a rose. For my next spiral, I cut diagonal strips on one side of the paper, then rolled it and it made it look like a sun or some type of flower. For my last spirals, I cut straight strips in the strips of paper, then rolled them and squished them a little but to make them look rustic. Finally, I arranged all my spirals on a round piece of paper and hot-glued them. Overall, I really like how this project turned out, but I wish I would've made it larger and more elaborate. If I were to have more time, I probably could've achieved this. For my first project in 3D, I think it turned out really well.
