06. Three Material

For this project we were tasked with drawing a picture with a full range of value, doing so by using coal, pencil, and ink. Taking a picture of an old candle stick that my parents had on the dinner room table, I lied it on its side so I was able to get a range of value from the shadows. My final product I think shows a wide range of value; and even though I wasn't able to had much ink, the coal and pencil are quite prominent. My favorite thing about this piece is probably the candle and very top of the holder. I think I did a great job of blending those together and creating a wide range of value. Though the bottom of the candle stick I really struggled with. I couldn't get the shape right, and even when I went in to shade it, the depth wasn't working with me either. If I could start over and change something it would've been how I mapped out my piece. Maybe rearranging the candle stick so that I still had that wide range of value, but making it easier for me to do the bottom.
